749 Graduates from DESCD

The Department of External Services and Community Development (DESCD) conducted its 52nd Certificate Awarding Ceremony last October 30, 2010 at the Juanito Bruno gymnasium, this university.

A total of 749 students graduated from the different non-formal courses offered by the DESCD. Specifically, the following are the courses offered, to wit: Garment Technology, Needle Craft, Baking, Cooking/Food Processing, Ref. and Aircon Repair, Beauty Care, Hair Cutting/Styling, Basic Automotive Mechanics, Welding/Fabrication, Practical Electicity, Basic Electronics, Plumbing, Basic Computer Repair, Cellphone Repair, Graphic Arts, and Instrumental Music.

The said courses are offered in-campus and off-campus. The off-campus sites include: the Barangays of Sta. Maria, Divisoria, San Roque, Putik, Sinunuc (Kapatid), Mampang (AVRC), San Ramon (Prison and Penal Farm) and John Spirig Elementary School, the Bureau of Internal Revenue, and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology.

Said program was attended by the City Councilor Hon. Rodolfo R. Lim, the Guest Speaker; Dr.Grace J. Rebollos, WMSU President; Dr. Milabel E. Ho, Vice President for Research Extension and Development; and Prof. Lucio R. Somblingo, the DESCD Dean. (Almar E. Villanueva)
