Aminah Fernando Kunting, an incoming Bachelor of Science in Education-Major in English senior of Western Mindanao State University (WMSU), adjudged as champion in the recently concluded 21st National Oratorical Contest sponsored by the Veterans Federation of the Philippines-Sons and Daughters Association, Inc. (VFP-SDAI) last April 6.

The speech contest was based on the theme, “Veterans of the World War II, strength and Inspiration of the Youth to the Right Path.” The competition was conceptualized to honor the heroism and valor of the Filipino Veterans during the World War II.

First runner-up to the said competition was from the National Capital Region, while the second runner-up was from Davao City.

Kunting was awarded by the Department of Education Secretary, Bro. Armin A. Luistro and his staff during the Araw ng Kagitingan Commemorative Rites last April 9 at Mt. Samat, Bataan. The event was graced by President Benigno Simeon C. Aquino.

Aminah, who aspires to be an educator, whishes to continue the legacy in honoring the Filipino veterans who serve as exemplars and icons of courage and patriotism.

She was trained by Dr. Expedito H. Malbago, an instructor of the College of Communications and Humanities of WMSU. (WMSU Press Release)
