College of Architecture

The College of Architecture works hard to provide Architectural Education and training to architecture students who will evolve into “the Ultimate Professional Builder, Globally… the Filipino Architect…” specifically, the College is primarily concerned with providing students with the highest degree of knowledge, skills and competence in the art and science of architecture and their total growth and development within the framework of democratic ideals and spiritual values and the evolvement of a distinct Filipino Architecture within the concept of a Filipino Ideology, without losing of the continued advancement of Science and Technology.

The College was declared by the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) as the Center of Development – 2 in 1999. It is also noted for its outstanding performances in educating future global architects. It is known for its exemplary and award winning researchers and community outreach programs. It has produced a number of Board of Architecture top notchers. Thus, the College of Architecture is considered as one of the five Architecture Colleges in the Philippines.

The Bachelor of Science in Architecture is a 5 – year ladder – type course (Certificate in Drafting Technology – 2nd year Certificate Building Technology and Utilities and Certificate of CADD 4th year are conferred) which started in 1979. It specializes on the fundamental design subjects which equips graduates to design simple to elaborate residential houses to buildings with varied structures (single and multi – storey complexes). Students are required to do projects in Urban Planning and Design where environmental concerns are taken into consideration, at the same time they are also exposed to Heritage Conservation and landscape Architecture. A major architectural Thesis is required for graduation which covers two (2) semesters. Completion of the curriculum assures graduates to be able to hurdle the two year Post Graduate Architectural Diversified Training Program in actual construction planning and design, which are pre – requisite to the PRCR’s Licensure Examination for Architects.

Graduates of this course are currently employed in both government and private agencies. They are equipped to do historical and recent trends in architectural design, de researches on environment management and other complex building structures as well as worthy community projects.
