The Accrediting Agency for Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) has once again visited Western Mindanao State University to assess various undergraduate and graduate programs from May 21 to 24.

20 accreditors from different State Universities and Colleges in Mindanao have visited the University with Dr. Brigida A. Roscom (MSU-IIT) as the over-all coordinator.

Among the programs that were evaluated are the following: (Graduate programs) College of Nursing’s Master of Arts in Nursing and Master of Nursing, College of Teacher Education’s Doctor of Education and Master of Arts in Education, College of Public Administration and Development Studies’ Master of Public Administration; (Undergraduate programs) College of Physical Education, Recreation and Sports’ BS in Physical Education, College of Communications and Humanities’ AB Journalism, AB Broadcasting and AB English, College of Social Sciences’ AB History, AB Political Science, BS Psychology, BS Accountancy and BS Economics, College of Architecture’s BS Architecture, College of Engineering and Technology’s BS Environmental Engineering, BS Geodetic Engineering, BS Computer Engineering, BS Civil Engineering, BS Sanitary Engineering, BS Industrial Engineering, BS Electrical Engineering, BS Computer Engineering, BS Computer Science and BS Electronics Engineering, College of Agriculture’s BS Agriculture, BS Agricultural Technology, BS Agricultural Engineering and BS Agribusiness and College of Forestry and Environmental Studies’ BS Forestry.

A series of internal accreditation surveys have been conducted to assess the preparedness of the aforementioned graduate and undergraduate programs and among the criteria for assessment are the vision and mission, goals and objectives, faculty members, educational facilities, the University administration and the students as well. The Quality Assurance Office under Dr. Susan P. Dela Cruz is in charge of the accreditation visits by the AACCUP with the assistance of over 30 internal accreditors of WMSU.

The accreditation process is but one of the many developmental initiatives of the University under the leadership of the President, Dr. Milabel Enriquez-Ho. (AJ Dalugdug – PAO, WMSU)
