Anisa Yacub-Romero, Scholarship Coordinator of La Hermandad ZamboangueƱa Foundation Incorporated (LHFZI) donated her personal collections of Islamic books to the university’s College of Asian and Islamic Studies (CAIS). In line with the much awaited season of our Islam brothers and sisters – the Ramadan, Yacub-Romero paid a courtesy visit to the University President-Dr. Grace J. Rebollos to personally hand over the preloved books.

Yacub-Romero is a balikbayan and a retiree from the United Nations in New York and she regularly writes for Zamboanga Star. After spending time here in the country, she will be going back to the USA, thus she decided to donate her books.

“If only one student can read a book about Islam, that will make me very happy,” Yacub-Romero told University Bulletin of her intentions. Together with her cousin, former WMSU Public Affairs Director and WMSU professor Ali Yacub, Yacub-Romero turned over the books to the CAIS Dean- Prof. Eddie M. Ladja and to Dr. Grace J. Rebollos last August 23 . (Ekeena O. Lim, PAO-WMSU)
