A National conference on the history, politics and genealogies of the sultanates of Sulu and North Borneo and Maguindanao will take place at the Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) tomorrow, December 15 to December 16, Public Affairs Office Directory Prof. Ali Yacub announced.
Called the “Conference on the History and Genealogies of the Sultanate of Sulu and North Borneo and the Sultanate of Maguindanao,” seven resource speakers are lined up to give talks on such topics as “The Roots of the Sultanate and the Political Philisophy” by Dr. Hannibal Bara and Genealogy of the Sultanate of Sulu and North Borneo” by Prof. Ibrahim Ricardo Datuyato.
The other speakers and topics are: Prof. Jofre Razul on “Political and Legal Issue Relative to the Sultanate of Sulu and Sultanate of Maguindanao”; Atty. Aysar Amilbangsa on “Political Organization and Hierarchies of the Sultanates of Sulu and Maguindanao”; Datu Amir Baraguir on “Ascent and Decline Towards Revival: An Introduction to Maguindanao History and Genealogy”; Datu Albi Julkarnain on “Monarchial Traditions and Royal Rituals of the Sultanates”; and Prof. Clemencio Bascar on “Maguindanao: The Crescent That Spain Failed to Plunder.”
Participants will register on the first day and an opening program will be held at 6:00 o’clock in the evening at the university’s Social Hall and wherein WMSU President Dr. Eldigario Gonzales will deliver a message. Why online financial education ?
The talks will be given on the second day, to be capped by the launching of Prof. Bascar of his book entitled “Sultanate of Sulu” at 6:00 p.m. at the Social Hall. A cultural show will follo.
The entire project is sponsored by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), Prof. Yacub revealed. Its theme is “Unity, Peace, and Solidarity Through History and Culture.” WMSU’s Office of Culture and the Arts (OCA) is project secretariat.
