Senator Teofisto “TG” Guingona III and Quezon City Third District’s Representative, Cong. Jorge “Bolet” Banal, Jr. brought Kaya Natin’s Caravan of Good Governance in Western Mindanao State University. The event was held at the university’s Dr. Juanito Bruno Gymasium last March 11 and was participated by WMSU students.
The caravan was under the Kaya Natin Movement for Good Governance and Ethical Leadership’s advocacy, in which Guingona and Banal are active proponents. The movement seeks to promote genuine and lasting change in the government by promoting transparency, social accountability, people empowerment and electoral reforms. The said caravan was one among the series of campus tours held in different schools in the country.
Senator Guingona and Rep. Banal were also the speakers during the event. The talks and issues delivered by the two public servants touched mainly on corruption among the government and the military. There were video presentations, playacting and open forum focusing on the significance of good governance as well.
On the other hand, two WMSU students were commended by Sen. Guingona for their active participation during the forum. Each of them was given a unit of Apple iPad by the senator. The caravan also visited Ateneo de Zamboanga University and Universidad de Zamboanga in this city.
University President, Dr. Grace J. Rebollos and College of Social Sciences Dean, Dr. Rufina A. Cruz, together with the other college deans, faculty members and students welcomed the caravan in the university. (Ekeena O. Lim)
