Blessing of the brand new Toyota HiAce van, which will be utilized by the College of Nursing (CN) of the university, was held last November 9. The simple blessing ceremony was held beside the CN building and was headed by WMSU President- Dr. Milabel Enriquez-Ho.

The blessing of the van was preceded by a Eucharistic Mass, which was sponsored by the College of Nursing of this university. Different Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) officials, faculty members and students convened to observe the first Friday mass which was led by Rev. Fr. Max Rodriguez of the Claret Parish Church. The blessing of the new transportation facility was also initiated by Fr. Rodriguez.

CN Dean-Prof. Leila D. Benito expressed her delight over the newly-procured utility van. “It will be utilized by the level coordinators in monitoring different areas in which student’s Related Learning Experiences (RLE) are conducted, transporting student nurses to Camp Navarro General Hospital and providing means for transporting researchers of the college to different areas,” Benito informed.

The procurement of the vehicle was approved by the President Benigno Simeon C. Aquino III sometime in 2010. A formal turn-over ceremony to the college is yet to be scheduled.

On the other hand, the College of Nursing is now preparing for the Level III Accreditation of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. The required infrastructure or facilities is now started, in which the CNX building of the college will be converted to offices devoted for student services and laboratories. The target date of the accreditation will be on February 2013. (Ekeena O. Lim, WMSU – Public Affairs Office)
