December 20, 2005

A book by Zamboanga Today columnist Prof. Emmanuel Mangubat will launch in a ceremony at the Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) executive lobby at 8:30 o’clock this morning, (Wednesday, December 21).

The book is entitled “Sulu Sultanate: Its Establishment with Historical, Political and Legal Implications.” It consists of the series of articles about the Sulu sultanate written by Prof. Mangubat in the past few years and were printed in his column “Bato-Bato Sa Langit” in the Zamboanga Today.

WMSU President Dr. Eldigario Gonzales will give the opening remarks in the book launching affair. Impressions will be given by Sulu Paramount Sultan Dr. Ibrahim Bahjin, One People Mindanao spokesman Atty. Pantaleon Alvarez, and lawyer Melchor Sadain.

The author was, among others, a mathematics teacher in WMSU, former president of the Zamboanga Columnist Club and fellow of the Singapore-based Royal Institute of Journalists.

For his prolific writings on sultanate, Dr. Bahjin conferred on him the title of “honorary datu” last year. (Rey-Luis Banagudos / PAO-WMSU)
