RDEC Dean Receives ICHER 2010 Awards

Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) Research, Development and Evaluation Center (RDEC) Dean Dr. Chona Q. Sarmiento was conferred the International Peer Reviewer Award during the International Conference on Higher Education Research dubbed as ICHER 2010 held from April 28 to May 1 at the UNESCO World Heritage, Vigan City, Ilocos Sur.

Also recognized was Prof. Almudi G. Lukman, who won 2nd place in Poster Presentation of his research paper out of 200 entries.

With Sarmiento and Lukman were Research Utilization, Publication and Information Dissemination (RUPID) Dean Dr. Julieta B. Tendero and Dr. Jocelyn A. Pedroso, who also presented their research papers in the conference.

A total of 10 major awards were given to outstanding researchers all over the Philippines, one of which was the title conferred on Dr. Sarmiento.

Aside from the poster presentation contest, the conference featured the following contest categories: Best Publishable Paper, Best Oral Research Presentation, Best Practices in Institutional Research and Video Research Competition.

Paper presentations among institutional researchers were held which were clustered in the following categories: education, science and technology, and communication, language and media.

Prominent keynote and plenary speakers came from United States, Canada and
Japan.

The conference was spearheaded by the Philippine Association of Institutions for Research (PAIRS) and University of Northern Philippines (UNP) and was attended by institutional researchers from different schools in the country. (Dion Jay E. Tality)
