WMSU Campus Christmastide Starts on December 4 with Lantern Parade

The observance of the Christmas season in the Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) campus will kick off with a lantern prade in the afternoon of Monday December 4.

Public Affairs Office (PAO) Director Prof. Ali T. Yacub said lantern parade is a traditional Christmas activity of the university that ushers in its other Yuletide events. The parade will be followed by the “hanging of the greens” in the campus to be participated in by the officials and students of the university’s various colleges and departments.

Parade contingents will vie in a contest for “jolliest group”, “most colorful group”, and “most lighted group.” A contest for the best lanterns will also be held, as well as the simultaneous hanging and lighting of the Christmas trees of the colleges. Some 40 trees located in the campus will be decorated.

Students and personnel will join in a grand party and concert in the same evening. The acitivities will be held at the quadrangle of the university. (Rey-Luis Banagudos / PAO-WMSU)
