WMSU Conducts Nutrition and Wellness Seminar
July 25, 2006

The Western Mindanao State University joined the whole nation in celebrating July 2006 as Nutrition Month through the conduct of a Nutrition and Wellness Seminar-Workshop on July 20-21, 2006 at the Grand Astoria Hotel, Zamboanga City.

The seminar was jointly sponsored by the University Center for Local Governance and the College of Home Economics Graduate Program, in cooperation with the WMSU-WB Knowledge for Development Center.

About 30 nutritionists/dietician, health and sport education teachers and workers from the government and private agencies/institutions in the region attended the seminar-workshop. The participants learned new trends and concepts in teaching health and nutrition education and were taught to conduct nutritional assessment on accurate analysis and interpretation of data. The participants were also briefed on Zamboanga City’s Health and Nutrition Programs.

Nutrition Month is an annual celebration in pursuit of creating effective public awareness and involvement along nutrition efforts. July as Nutrition Month, designated under P.D. No. 491, will help us remember the vital role of proper nutrition in developing our children to their fullest potentials and enable them to attain a bright future.

The 32nd Nutrition Month Celebration’s theme is “Kumain ng Right, para maging Batang Bright.” (Prof. Socorro Rebecca B. Felonia / Press Coordinator, CPADS/OP-PAO/WMSU)
