WMSU Extends Non-formal Ed in Calarian

Western Mindanao State University-Department of Extension Services and Community (WMSU-DESCD) Development conducted a non-formal education in Southern Support Command Elementary School, Flamingo, Upper Calarian of this city.

The program, which was open to all the residents of the community, commenced on June 21. According to Barangay Chairman Roni Gregorio, his constituents requested for this program in preparation for the K-12 curriculum so as to educate the parents of the students.

Four major courses are offered in the program which encompasses Cooking every; Refrigeration, Air-condition and welding during Friday; and Garment and Needle Crops during Friday.

In an interview with Prof. Lucio C. Somblingo, Dean of the Department of Extension, Services and Community Development, the program was inaugurated in 1980 and flourished in 1998 during the terms of the former university presidents – Dr. Eldigario D. Gonzales and Dr. Grace J. Rebollos, with the aid of the incumbent president – Dr. Milabel Enriquez-Ho.
