WMSU Graduation 2004: “Education for Social Awareness and Economic Progress”

The two days graduation of 2004 of the Western Mindanao State University will anchor on its theme: “Education for Social Awareness and Progress,”. this was announced by Dr. Eldigario D. Gonzales, President of the Western Mindanao State Univerity recently.

Invited to grace the occasions as Commencement Speakers will be the Civil Service Commission Chairperson Korina Constantino-David and Dr. Bernardo Villegas of the University of Asia and the Pacific.

WMSU will have its graduation on March 29, 2004 and March 31, 2004 respectively, at the Dr. Juanito Bruno Gymnasium at 7:30 in the morning. The Baccalaureate Service will be on March 28, 2004 at 7:00 o’clock in the morning in the same venue. Speakers have been invited to this occasion.

Dr. Gonzales said that strict security precautions are in place till graduaton day, hence, candidates for graduation and their families are advised to observe these security regulations for the benefit of all concerned. Gifts, cameras, and other gadgets are not allowed to be brought to the ceremonial area.

Dr. Marlene C. Ortega, Vice President for Academic Affairs informed the Public Affairs Office that there would be one thousand five hundred forty seven candidates for graduation expected to march in this year’s commencement exercises.

For the first day, Monday, March 29, the number of graduates are broken down as follows: Nursing – 208; Engineering – 281; CSM – 74; H.E. – 66; Law – 46; Criminology – 60; IPESCA – 35; CPADS – 4. Total: 774.

And as for the second day, Wednesday, March 31, 2004, they are also broken down as follows: CLA – 259; Education – 215; Social Work – 104; Agriculture – 64; Architecture – 35; Islamic – 62; Forestry – 34. Total: 773. GRAND TOTAL: 1,547. (Prof. Ali T. Yacub, Public Affairs Office)
