Western Mindanao State University-Career and Placement Office conducted a Job Fair last March 1 at the WMSU gymnasium.

The job fair intends to provide an access for the graduating students to land a job right after graduation. Moreover, the event is not only exclusive for WMSU students and alumni but it also catered to other job hunters.

There were 18 local companies which participated during the affair. The participating companies are as follows: Z.C. Integrated Port Services, Inc.; Jollibee Worldwide Services; Brent Hospital and Colleges, Inc.; Job Fit Recruitment Services; Sophia Jewellery Inc.; PC911; STI College; Chowking; Coca-Cola Bottlers Philippines; Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas-Zamboanga; Sun Gate Pawnshop, Inc.; Hired Target Recruitment Agency; Universidad de Zamboanga; KCC Malls, MEMPCO; Chiu Tien Un Hardware; Pepsi Cola Products Philippines Inc.; Y.L. Fishing Corporation; and Unizams. A total number of 457 job vacancies were solicited.

WMSU President-Dr. Milabel Enriquez-Ho and City Mayor Celso L. Lobregat initiated the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Present during the occasion were City Hall Chief Executive Assistant-Mario Roca and OIC for Department of Labor and Employment Technical Services and Support Division Officer-Macaraya U. Adil. WMSU Vice President for Academic Affairs-Dr. Carmelita Felisilda, Dean of Student Affairs-Prof. Milagros Yosores, Alumni Relations Office Director-Prof. Florence Alcazar and Student Regent-Jay Calumpon also graced the event.

The job fair was made possible thru the efforts of the university’s Career and Placement Office, headed by the OIC Director-Fini Joy B. Buenafe, RGC. The sponsored job fair was in partnership with the Philippine Employment Service Office, WMSU Alumni Relations Office, WMSU Guidance Counseling Center and in collaboration with the WMSU Graduating Student Association and University Student Council.
