WMSU Holds Recognition Day

Western Mindanao State University conducted its Recognition Day last March 28 at the Dr. Juanito Bruno Gymnasium. Students from the different colleges and campuses were recognized for their exemplary performances in various fields.

This year’s theme, “The WMSU Graduates Expanding the Frontiers of Service and Social Responsibility to the Global Community,” seeks to acknowledge student excellence and talents that are anchored on social relevance and service.

WMSU duly honored the students in the fields of academics, leadership, service, journalism, performing arts and athletics. University Registrar, Prof. Aurora O. Manzon took pride in presenting the academic awardees of the main campus, external studies units and consortia. University President, Dr. Grace J. Rebollos awarded the academic awardees and non-academic awardees and was assisted by Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Felicitas F. Falcatan and Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Milagros F. Yosores.

Atty. Miguel F. Gudio Jr., Senior Deputy State Prosecutor of the Department of Justice, Office of the Prosecutor General was the guest speaker during the event. Atty. Gudio was a WMSU alumnus and was also a Cum Laude of A.B. Political Science during his time.

Radiya P. Istarul, an A.B. Political Science student, came out as the Class Valedictorian of Batch 2011. There is a total of 44 Cum Laude from the main campus, external studies units and consortia. (Ekeena O. Lim, PAO-WMSU)
