Mr. Ronald Cszar F. Villano, a senior nursing student, this University, is one of 28 young Filipino participants to the 52-day Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Program (SSEAYP), that brings together youths from six Asian countries on a tour of goodwill from October 22 to December 14, 2012.

Now on its 39th year, SSEAYP is sponsored by the Japanese government and supported by member-states of the ASEAN. It is coordinated locally by the National Youth Commission, Office of the President. Included in SSEAYP’s itinerary are Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei and Japan.

The exchange program aims to foster cultural understanding and cooperation between and among youth leaders in the ASEAN and Japan.

Joining Villano is Ms. Normelyn A. Gallardo from the Ateneo de Zamboanga University, this city. They represent Region IX. Together with other Filipino youth participants, they underwent orientation and training in diplomatic affairs, and culture and the arts, among others to enable them to embody and share with youths from other Asian countries, the best of Philippine values, culture and vision.

WMSU salutes Mr. Villano. Congratulations and more power! (Evelyn C. LuceƱo, WMSU-OP thru WMSU Public Affairs Office)
