WMSU Orients New Faculty On Organizational Functions

Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) President Dr. Eldigario Gonzales welcomed some 277 new and recent faculty members and visiting lecturers into the university family with a seminar-workshop to familiarize them with the institution’s various functions and operations.

Speaking at the start of the seminar held today, Monday, November 20, at the university gymnasium, Dr. Gonzales said the orientation will enable the new personnel to better relate with the organization, its management, their peers and especially students. He said their one-day training will make them effective in contributing to the institution’s attainment of its vision, mission and goals.

With so many personnel, Dr. Gonzales noted, WMSU is the biggest employer in the city and region of the community’s “best and brightest people”. He said the university’s top-notched teachers is what makes WMSU “a great institution today.”

He said the continuing increase in WMSU’s student population also requires corresponding addition of new faculty personnel, which is now over 800.

Among the resource persons of the seminar were Vice- President for Academic Affairs and Open University Dr. Marlene Ortega, Vice-President for Administration and Finance Prof. Ricardo Adjawie, Vice-President for Research, Extension and International Affairs Dr. Milabel Ho, and Vice-President for Corporate Affairs Myrna Cabato.
