WMSU Palaro ’12 in Full Swing

Western Mindanao State University is on its third day of observing the annual Palaro in which various athletic and non-athletic events are held and participated by the faculty, personnel and students alike.

The sport festivities formally opened last Sunday at the Joaquin F. Enriquez Memorial Sports Complex (JFEMSC) headed by the university president Dr. Milabel Enriquez-Ho. A parade which started from Petit Baracks and culminated at the (JFEMSC) was participated by the faculty, staff and athletes of the different colleges, departments and external studies units. Different WMSU officials, City Mayor Celso L. Lobregat, other city officials and guests manifested their presence and support to the university as it observes this significant event.

The event’s theme is “WMSU Palaro 2012: Strengthening Solidarity in the WMSU Family thru Teamwork, Camaraderie and Sportsmanship.” This year’s palaro provides an avenue not only to the students to demonstrate their ingenuity in sports but also it encourages the faculty and the administrative personnel to engage in this healthy and fun undertaking.
Meanwhile, winners for this year’s Mr. and Ms. WMSU 2012 are Justine Jay I. Legaspi from the Integrated Laboratory School-High School Department and Jessa Marycor D. Agang from the College of Home Economics. The spectacular pageant and coronation night was held last September 1.

Activities and events to watch out for are the different athletic events and non-athletic events such as the Mountain Bike Race, Musical Contests, Writing and Visual Arts Competitions, Cheerdance Competition (September 5) and the Closing Ceremonies (September 5).
