WMSU, PESO Launches Job Fair ’11

Western Mindanao State University-Career and Placement Office in partnership with Philippine Employment Service Office held Job Fair 2011 last March 23. Graduates and undergraduates took chance in seeking job opportunities during the fair at the WMSU’s College of Public Administration and Development Studies Library.

Objectives of the Job Fair was to assess the interest and skills and coach the applicants for major career options; provide a venue and opportunity for graduating students and alumni to meet with different employers; and to fill in the supply and demand issue on unemployment. The event was made possible in coordination of the following offices and organizations: Guidance & Counseling Office, Alumni Relations Office, Association of Student Assistants, Graduating Student Association and the University Student Council.

City Mayor Celso L. Lobregat and Vice President for Research Extension and Development initiated the fair’s Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. After which, Mayor Lobregat and Dr. Ho delivered a short message addressing issues on employment and the significant role of education respectively.

Participating agencies are Cyber City Teleservices, Power Express, Shopper’s Plaza, Tres Alas Corporation, Ciudad Medical Zamboanga, Brent Hospital College Incorporation and YL Fishing Corporation. There were 21 interviewees hired among the 102 hopefuls who applied.

Alumni Relations Office Director, Nerissa Mantilla headed the distribution of Certificate of Appreciation to the participating companies and institutions. (Ekeena O. Lim)
