Western Mindanao State University is set to celebrate its 93rd Alumni Homecoming on Friday. The anticipated event is filled with an array of activities to be participated by the alumni, faculty and students alike. The alumni homecoming will conclude on December 16.

This year’s homecoming features the Class 1962 as the Golden Jubilarians, Class 1982 as the Pearl Jubilarians and Class 1987 as the Silver Jubilarians. Other alumni are also expected to revisit their alma mater in this momentous occasion as this event has been a tradition of the university during the month of December.

A Thanksgiving Mass at the university’s gymnasium is slated on the first day of the homecoming and to be followed by the Alumni Welcome Program. The ribbon cutting and the blessing of the newly-constructed covered court donated by the Hon. Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar, Zamboanga City District I Representative will also be initiated in the morning of December 14.

Hon. Parisya Hashim-Taradji, Undersecretary for Operations and Program Group of the Department of Social Welfare and Development is the guest speaker for the Alumni Welcome Program. Taradji is but one of the many proud graduates of the university faring well in their chosen endeavors and careers. She is an alumnus of the College of Social Work and Community Development of the university and is a registered social worker.
On the other hand, the Alumni Grand Fellowship Night is scheduled on the evening of December 14. A motorcade around the city proper will commence the evening’s activity. The fellowship night intends to convene the alumni in an entertaining and fun-filled program. Talent contests and a variety of numbers are to be participated by the students, faculty members and the alumni as well. A sky lantern display will culminate the fellowship night.

A Testimonial Dinner is set on the evening of December 15, in which the outstanding and distinguished alumni of the university will be given due recognition for bringing honor and pride to WMSU. A Lifetime Achievement Award will also be awarded and the jubilarians for this year will be given recognition during the affair.

Hon. Jose I. Lorena, Undersecretary of the Presidential Assistant on Peace Process, an accomplished lawyer and a WMSU-College of Law alumnus is expected to grace the dinner as the keynote speaker. The dinner will then be filled by testimonies to be delivered by the award recipients.

Atty. Eduardo F. Sanson, Western Mindanao State University Alumni Association, Inc. (WMSUAAI) President and the WMSUAAI officers, in coordination with the university’s Alumni Relations Office Director-Prof. Florence A. Alcazar, spearhead this year’s festivities. (Ekeena O.
