Manuelito Siason, a senior AB English student of the Western Mindanao State University was recognized as the National Collegiate Ambassador for Peace by the World Collegiate Association for the Research of Principles (WCARP) and the Youth Federation for World Peace.
The award was given in recognition of his exemplification of the lifestyle of peace and selflessness and of his commitment and dedication to peace works. The conferment of award to Siason was held last August 2, 2014 at Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Manila. Siason is among the 20 awardees from across Asia—the only awardee representing Mindanao.
Three other dedicated and dynamic student leaders of the University attended the convention dubbed as the 2nd International Youth Assembly. They were Matthew Apostol (BS Economics IV), Ma. Ann Grace Samaco (BS Nuring II) and Mervin Cabato (BS Accountancy III).
The convention, which was participated by over 400 international and local delegates, is geared at empowering the youth, rebuilding nations and creating a world of peace.
In-depth topics such as Globalization of Youth Education, Good Governance and Transformational Leadership Principles, Volunteerism and Service, Practice of pure love and abstinence from sex before marriage were discussed.
Among the notable speakers were Hon. Sherwin Gatchalian, (Rep. 1st District of Valenzuela City), Mr. Yutaka Yamada (President of World CARP Asia), Mr. Efren Peñaflorida (CNN Hero of the year 2009), Hon. Ek Nath Dakal (Parliament Member, Government of Nepal), Lloyd Luna (motivational speaker and social media expert).
The 2nd International Youth Assembly transcended the racial, national and religious barriers and contributed to the fulfillment of the hope of all ages for a unified world of peace wherein the physical and spiritual dimensions of life are harmonized.
