This prestigious event brought together researchers, presenters, and a distinguished panel of evaluators to celebrate research excellence at WMSU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The AIHR served as a platform for researchers to showcase the culmination of their dedication and hard work. Researchers and presenters from various WMSU colleges participated, eager to share their completed Institutional\/Outsourced R&amp;D projects. The event was expertly facilitated by the RESEL-RDEC Head Units and staff, ensuring a smooth and informative experience for all participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A highly esteemed panel of evaluators, comprised of prominent figures in the research community, judged the presented projects. The panel included experts from both the Agriculture, Forestry, Natural Resources\/Science &amp; Technology (AFNR\/S&amp;T ) namely: Dr. Synan S. Baguio &#8211; Director, DOST-PCAARRD, Dr. Ricardo A. Apolinario III \u2013 City Director, DOST-IX, Dr. Rufa Lara Mendez \u2013 VP for Research, ZSCMST, and Dr. Leonilo B. Abella \u2013 Director, WESMAARRDEC. For the Social Science fields; invited evaluators were Dr. Jason V. Chavez \u2013 Research Director, ZPPSU Dr. Robert V. Panaguiton \u2013 Faculty, College of Liberal Arts CLA, and Dr. Pilar S. Caparas \u2013 Research Coordinator, CLA. Their expertise and experience ensured a rigorous and insightful evaluation process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After careful deliberation, the panel announced the well-deserved winners of the different categories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Best Paper Research Category (Social Science):<\/strong> Associate Professor Marilyn M. Dioso (College of Teacher Education) for her research titled &#8220;Skills and Readiness of General Education Teachers for Inclusive Special Education.&#8221; This research delves into a crucial aspect of education, ensuring teachers are equipped to handle the diverse needs of students in inclusive classrooms.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Best Paper Research Category (AFNR\/S&amp;T):<\/strong> Dr. Marvin A. Maulion (College of Science and Mathematics) for his research on &#8220;White Noise Analysis of Particulate Matter in Zamboanga City.&#8221; This research tackles a pressing environmental concern, providing valuable insights into air quality within the city.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Best Paper Development Category (AFNR\/S&amp;T):<\/strong> Engr. Arvic S. Francisco (College of Engineering) for his project titled &#8220;DOST-PCAARRD WMSU Agri-Aqua Technology Business Incubator Project Phase 2: Advance Incubation.&#8221; This project fosters innovation and entrepreneurship in the agricultural and aquatic sectors, holding immense potential for regional development.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The AIHR not only recognized outstanding research but also showcased the diverse range of R&amp;D initiatives undertaken at WMSU. From social inclusion in education to environmental monitoring and technological advancements in agriculture, the presented projects demonstrate the university&#8217;s commitment to tackling real-world challenges and contributing to positive change. The success of the AIHR is a testament to the tireless efforts of WMSU&#8217;s researchers, presenters, and the RESEL-RDEC team. It paves the way for continued research excellence at the university, fostering a culture of innovation and discovery that benefits both the local community and the nation as a whole. Spearheaded by the <strong>Dissemination, Publication, and Citation Monitoring Unit (DPCMU)<\/strong>under the coordination of <strong>Dr. Arnel R. Madrazo<\/strong>, and supported by the <strong>Research Development and Evaluation Center (RDEC)<\/strong>led by <strong>Dr. Reynante E. Atud\u00eda<\/strong><strong>,<\/strong> the event highlighted the university\u2019s commitment to cultivating a strong research culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A total of <strong>98 participants<\/strong>\u2014including faculty-researchers, evaluators, academic officials, and RDEC staff\u2014attended the simultaneous sessions at two venues: the <strong>Science Hub Amphitheater<\/strong><strong>, <\/strong>which hosted research presentations in the <strong>Social Sciences<\/strong><strong>,<\/strong> and the <strong>College of Science and Mathematics (CSM) Conference Room<\/strong><strong>,<\/strong> where outputs in the <strong>Sciences and Technology<\/strong> were presented. This structure reflected the breadth of WMSU\u2019s research agenda and underscored its role as a knowledge hub addressing diverse societal needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The AIHR served as a platform not only to <strong>showcase completed research outputs<\/strong> but also to <strong>ensure quality assurance, strengthen peer evaluation, and prepare selected studies for publication and external dissemination<\/strong><strong>.<\/strong> It enabled researchers to engage in constructive dialogue with evaluators, thereby refining their work for wider scholarly impact. As the event concluded, it reinforced WMSU\u2019s dedication to knowledge creation, dissemination, and application in the service of community and nation-building. Maulion<\/strong><strong>,<\/strong> Director of the <strong>Research Centers Operation Office (RCOO)<\/strong> and Head of the <strong>Research Project Development Unit (RPDU)<\/strong><strong>,<\/strong> whose presence highlighted the strategic importance of the laboratory in WMSU\u2019s research development agenda. Designed as a specialized facility, the laboratory is equipped with cutting-edge analytical instruments capable of supporting a wide spectrum of studies in the natural and applied sciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The establishment of the Pure Analytical Research Laboratory is expected to enhance the <strong>quality, precision, and efficiency<\/strong> of ongoing and future research projects, enabling the university to produce outputs that meet global standards. It also represents a critical step in strengthening institutional competitiveness, providing support not only for faculty-led research but also for student engagement in advanced scientific training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With this new facility, WMSU continues to reaffirm its role as a <strong>leading academic and research institution in the region<\/strong> committed to generating knowledge and innovations that respond to both regional and national development priorities.
