HIGH-PERFORMING nursing enrollees in the Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) who meet the minimum scholastic requirements can avail of a new scholarship program.

WMSU President Dr. Eldigario Gonzales last week signed a special order approving the grant of full and partial scholarships to high school valedictorians and salutatorians, respectively, who enroll as freshmen in the university’s nursing courses effective this school year.

Full Scholarship is also available to studnets who “obtained a semestral computed GPA of 1.25 or better and with no grades less than 2.0 in all subjects,” the order stipulated.

“Those who have obtained a semestral computed GPA of at least 1.50 with no grades less than 2.0 in all subjects” are entitled to partial scholarship, Dr. Gonzales said in the order.

The privilege will cover tuition and miscellaneous scholarships, except RLE fee. Valedictorians and salutatorians must have also obtained a NAT rating of 90 or better to qualify. “Evaluation of grades and renewal of scholarship shall be on a semestral basis,” the order further stated.

Dr. Gonzales said the scholarship program was recommended by Vice-President for Research, Extension and Corporate Affairs Prof. Clemencio Bascar and College of Nursing Dean Myrna Cabato. (Rey-Luis Banagudos – PAO, WMSU)
