Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) once again proves its excellence in storytelling and socially relevant filmmaking as its BA Broadcasting 3rd Year students took home multiple awards in the Department of Agrarian Reform Central and Regional Film Festival 2025 (DARCRFF 2025) held on June 30, 2025.
The national film festival, hosted by the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), provides a platform for tertiary-level students to spotlight the inspiring journeys of Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) and Agrarian Reform Beneficiary Organizations (ARBOs) through cinema. This yearโs festival recognized the creativity, dedication, and impactful narratives of WMSUโs young filmmakers, who dominated both ARBO and ARB categories.

The studentsโ works captured the spirit of the agrarian reform movement, portraying heartfelt and hopeful stories of transformation through land ownership, cooperative efforts, and empowerment. Their films not only impressed the judges with cinematic craftsmanship but also gave voice to real communities whose lives have been changed through DAR’s programs.
These achievements highlight the creativity, collaboration, and social consciousness of WMSUโs students. They also reflect the strong academic foundation and hands-on training provided by the Mass Communication Department, which continues to empower students to use media as a tool for advocacy and change. WMSU remains committed to producing socially responsible communicators and storytellers who elevate voices from the grassroots and contribute meaningfully to national development through film and media.
