Western Mindanao State University Integrated Laboratory School (WMSU-ILS) celebrated its Commencement Exercises on March 18 at the Dr. Juanito A. Bruno Gymnasium, Zamboanga City. With the theme “Recognizing the Culture of Excellence for Professional and International Social and Economic Opportunities”, parents and graduates from the elementary and high school department convened for this momentous activity.
Present during the ceremony were University President Dr. Milabel Enriquez-Ho, Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) Dr. Ma. Carla A. Ochotorena, Vice President for Administration and Finance (VPAF) Dr. Joselito Madroñal, College of Teacher Education (CTE) Dean Nolan S. Iglesia, Student Regent Robert Parcon and WMSU Officials.
High School Principal Mr. Joel C. Macasinag with Elementary Prinicipal Dr. Anna Louisa R. Perez, President of WMSU Alumni Association, Inc., Police Chief Supt. Ramon Ochotorena and ILS Alumni Coordinator Mr. Richard C. Dagalea were also present during the event.
The graduates and the proud parents listened attentively as Mr. Dagalea introduced the guest speaker of the ceremony. Chair of the Physics Department of College of Science and Mathematics (CSM), Guest Speaker Dr. Joel Fernando inspired the graduates and the proud parents with his encouraging graduation message. Dr. Fernando is a graduate of the ILS High School in 1982.
Chaudhri Ameer T. Jumurin, Class Valedictorian of the ILS High School Department gave an inspiring speech on his valedictory address. “Remember to set your goals right, not too high that it becomes ludicrous, and not too low that it is ridiculous, but just at the right achievable level. Whenever you get too tired, wake yourself and remind yourself of your goal,” Jumurin said.
Sharif Abdurahman L. Abil is the High School Salutatorian while Abraham G. Sahi and Chryxialei P. Andrade are first and second honors of the Elementary Department, respectively. (Liezel M. Parreño, PAO)
