The Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE) emerged as the Champion in the Battle of the Future Law Enforcers: Criminology Knowledge Competition held on July 27, 2026, at the East Wing of KCC Mall de Zamboanga as part of the 31st Police Community Relations (PCR) Month celebration.

The competition was organized by the Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) through its City Community Affairs and Development Unit (CCADU) under the theme, “Sa Bagong Pilipinas, Ugnayang Pulis at Mamamayan: Tapat, Maasahan, at Nararamdaman ng Bayan.”

Six teams from four colleges and universities in Zamboanga City competed in the quiz bee, which tested participants’ knowledge in criminology, law enforcement, criminal justice, and public safety.

Representing WMSU were 1CL Kishanrah Torion, 1CL Ella Mae Miravilla, and 1CL Sean Kelvin Ledesma, coached by Ms. Kathleen Marata. The team demonstrated excellent knowledge and teamwork to claim the championship title.

The program opened with welcome remarks from PLTCOL Mendel S. Casao, Deputy City Director for Administration, who encouraged the participants to continue preparing themselves for future careers in law enforcement. The awarding ceremony was led by PCOL Fidel B. Fortaleza Jr., City Director of the Zamboanga City Police Office.

The championship victory reflects WMSU’s commitment to producing competent, ethical, and service-oriented future law enforcers while providing students with opportunities to excel in academic competitions. (LMP, PAO)
