Junior Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines (JIECEP) and the Electronics Engineering Department of Western Mindanao State University (WMSU), in collaboration with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), conducted βMission Connect: Bridging Communications in Calamity Zonesβ on September 12, 2026, at the WMSU Open Stage and Covered Court.
The one-day initiative brought together students and technology enthusiasts for lectures, demonstrations, and interactive activities highlighting communication and information and communications technologies (ICT) that can support emergency response and maintain connectivity during disasters.
The program featured an Introduction to the Government Emergency Communications System (GECS) delivered by Engr. Ronel I. Masinsin, providing participants with an overview of the system and its role in sustaining communication during emergencies. This was followed by an eGov App presentation by Abdulla Bin Salapuddin and a live demonstration by DICT IXβBASULTA, giving participants a closer look at digital government services and emergency communication applications.
The activity also focused on various communication technologies, featuring Radio Communication Systems (HF/VHF/UHF) by Engr. Pepito E. Cardoza, Jr., ICT Networking by Engr. John Michael Brique, and Satellite Communication by Engr. Ronel I. Masinsin. The sessions highlighted communication systems that can help sustain connectivity when conventional infrastructure is disrupted by disasters.
