WMSU-ESU No. 5 LET Topnotcher hails from Pagadian
July 3, 2017

Mark Joseph Macanim Timple, a graduate of the Western Mindanao State University- Pagadian Campus, secured the fifth place in the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) for Elementary Level given last March 26, 2017.

Timple obtained a rating of 88.60% in the licensure examination administered by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC). He is the eldest among two sons of Mr. Manuel, a farmer-businessman, and Mrs. Nilda Timple, a licensed pharmacist.

The topnotcher admitted that after graduating from high school, he didn’t have any plans of going to college even if he received several scholarships for the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and other state-funded universities. He was inspired by his mother to continue his education and took up Bachelor in Elementary Education. He was also influenced by his aunt who is a retired teacher. He wanted to become a teacher not only because of the salary rate and security of the job tenure, but he believes that to be part of the students’ success is a precious moment that cannot be equated with money. He is currently pursuing his Bachelor of Laws degree in a state college in Pagadian City.

The sole topnotcher from the region said that he is dedicating this success to the Almighty for giving meaning to his life. The success of Timple is shared by the WMSU-Pagadian Campus for it is the first time that the external studies unit produced a topnotcher. In gratitude of this feat, a thanksgiving ceremony was held last June 23, 2017. Present in the ceremony were Dr. Ricardo A. Somblingo- Dean, External Studies Unit (ESU); Dr. Lea E. Usman- Director; Public Affairs Office (PAO). Prof. Byron Go Silk- Associate Dean, ESU; Dr. Nolan S. Iglesia- Dean, College of Teacher Education (CTE); and, Prof. Ruzzel Nazario- Technical Associate on Education, ESU.
