Dr. Milabel Enriquez-Ho, together with the academic and administrative staff, celebrated the first anniversary of her appointment as Western Mindanao State University president last Tuesday.
A Thanksgiving Mass was offered in gratitude of the seamless transition of Dr. Enriquez-Ho’s leadership and committed service towards the state university. The mass was celebrated by Claret School of Zamboanga Director, Fr. Mauricio Ulep, CMF.
Headed by the Vice President for Academic Affairs-Dr. Carmelita M. Felisilda, a brief but fitting program was held wishing their felicitations to Dr. Enriquez-Ho. Several song numbers and an audio-video presentation, recollecting the WMSU president’s journey as the mother of the university were given.
Commission on Higher Education Regional Director-Dr. Emmylou B. Yanga and Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology (ZSCMST) Vice President for External Affairs-Prof. Nelson P. Cabral graced the occasion.
“A leader [Dr. Enriquez-Ho] who stood the test of time with humility and determination,” Dr. Yanga said in her congratulatory message for Dr. Enriquez-Ho. “Today marks the year of accomplishments,” she added.
Dr. Enriquez-Ho during the occasion took the opportunity to share her learning as a leader, which she believed would be more meaningful if shared. The state university president holds this gem of thoughts close to her which says: When things are meant for you it will come. Do not rush as God has designed plans for all of us. Another thought to ponder goes this way—Accept everyone as a gift for personal and professional growth: the good ones, the difficult ones to deal with and those whose minds we cannot understand.
Her message was all encompassing as she dedicates these wisdoms to every member of the WMSU family. “Practice what you preach. Words become stale when actions are not fully executed,” the latter directed her message towards the members of the administrative and academic staff.
The celebration of Dr. Enriquez-Ho’s first anniversary culminated with a luncheon held at the university’s Executive Building lobby. Friends, relatives and members of the WMSU family gathered in jubilation for the president’s remarkable accomplishments and milestones. (EKEENA O. LIM, WMSU PUBLIC AFFAIRS OFFICE)
