“On this site will rise a place where our alumni can come home to and create a supportive network that will work together for the development of WMSU,” Hon. Ramon M. Ochotorena, President of the Western Mindanao State University Alumni Association, Inc. (WMSU-AAI), announced during the launching and groundbreaking ceremony for the WMSU Casa Alumni and Psychological Center held last June 20, 2018.
The momentous event was witnessed by WMSU officials, faculty, students, WMSUAAI officials and alumni. Also present were the golden jubilarians of this year’s alumni homecoming from the College of Teacher Education Batch 1968 and Batch 1965.
“Finally, the Casa Alumni has come into a reality. We will have the new building in time with the centennial celebration of our alumni association in 2019,” said Hon. Ochotorena. He expressed his gratitude towards the donor, Mrs. Raquel Toribio Sahi, for her generous contribution in making the project a reality.
The P4.2 Million building was donated by Mrs. Raquel Toribio Sali, an alumna of the WMSU- Integrated Laboratory School in 1993 and AB Psychology in 1997. In her message, the generous benefactress said she’s humbled to be an instrument for this project to be realized.
WMSU President Dr. Milabel Enriquez Ho also congratulated the WMSUAAI officials and members for the efforts exerted in coming up with tangible projects such as the Casa Alumni and Psychological Center. She thanked Mrs. Sali for looking back to her alma mater. Dr. Ho challenged the students and alumni present to be inspired by Mrs. Sali. “Let us remember that WMSU played a big role in bringing us to where we are now,” said the president.
The groundbreaking ceremony was spearheaded in partnership with the Alumni Relations Office (ARO) under the directorship of Prof. Hashim N. Alawi, Jr.
