On June 16, 2025, in a firm demonstration of institutional leadership and strategic engagement, Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) President Dr. Ma. Carla A. Ochotorena paid a courtesy visit to Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Chairperson Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis, who was recently appointed to lead the national agency.

The high-level meeting focused on WMSU’s upcoming projects and long-term initiatives that aim to advance higher education in the region. Dr. Ochotorena presented the university’s plans aligned with CHED’s thrust toward academic excellence, research innovation, and inclusive development.

Following her meeting with Dr. Agrupis, Dr. Ochotorena also visited Dr. Ethel Agnes P. Valenzuela, Chairperson of the WMSU Board of Regents. Their discussion centered on important matters set to be tackled in the upcoming Board meeting, including pivotal decisions that will shape the university’s future trajectory.
