Adrian Paul A. Jose of the College of Engineering and Technology, and Pritti Hannah V. Lim of the College of Nursing were crowned Mr. and Ms. Western Mindanao State University 2010, respectively, on the eve of December 4 at the Dr. Juanito Bruno Gymnasium. They were chosen from a line-up of ten pairs of candidates from various colleges including the high school department.s
The Search for Mr. and Ms. WMSU 2010 is one of the highlights the WMSU Grand Alumni Homecoming/Christmas and Sports Festival 2010. The weeklong activity which runs from December 2 to 11, carries the theme “The WMSU Family – On Great Team”.
Runners up for the female category were (1st to 4th): Jemuelyn D. Andaya, College of Home Economics; Blanche H. Zapanta, College of Liberal Arts; Cesdianne Z. Daung, High School Department; and Edelyn C. Arguelles, College of Science and Mathematics.
Male runners up were (1st to 4th): Jelimar J. Masdal, College of Nursing; Arnold M. Constantino, College of Home Economics; Justine Jay I. Legaspi, High School Department; and Rodaine Awali, College of Education.
A talent competition was held on December 2 where Rodaine Awali and Cesdianne Z. Daung were awarded the Best in Talent male and female categories, respectively. A host of other awards were likewise given to various winners during the search night.
The objectives of the competition were: to discover campus personalities who will be the university”s ambassadors of good will and who will effectively advocate this year”s thrust or theme of the search; to promote the university”s cultural program in the form of songs, dances, and display of costumes; to develop good moral values among the candidates and participants; and to develop self-esteem of candidates and promote among them a holistic personality development. These objectives are based on the competition theme, “Wellness and Well-Being, Partners with Sports Activities: Key to Healthy Living”. (Evelyn C. Luceño, PAO-WMSU)
