Peace and Development Forum in celebration of the Mindanao Week of Peace
Last November 29, 2021, Peace and Human Security Institute (PHSI), in partnership with National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA), Tactical Operations Wing WestMin (TOW WestMi) Philippine Air Force (PAF) and International Alert (IA), conducted a webinar on Peace and Development Forum.
Peace and Human Security Institute (PHSI), the peace and development arm of the Office of the WMSU President Dr. Ma. Carla A. Ochotorena headed by its Director Ludy Dekit convened the partners last Nov. 9, 2021 to align the webinar in celebration of the Mindanao Week of Peace catering audience from the academic partners in the region. WMSU President Dr Ma Carla A Ochotorena was in the forefront as one of the inspiring Resource Speakers for the said forum, who expressed her sincerest gratitude and message of solidarity to everyone. She further stressed the importance of continued collaboration between the security sector and academe in sustaining a peaceful society in Western Mindanao.
TOW WestMin Civil Military Operation of Philippine Air Force (PAF) headed by its Commanding Officer Maj Alnasser Abdurakman forge initial partnership with WMSU last Nov. 9, 2021 as they expressed interest to collaborate with WMSU primarily in its program for the youth towards the mandate of the agency in implementing The Whole of Nation Approach, under the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC).
Meanwhile, Ret. Gen. Dir. Camilo Balutan now the NICA Regional Director pitch in during succeeding meetings in finalizing the program of Peace Forum, who eventually extended its resources mainly on the use of its facility in managing a more stable virtual plenary together with identified Resource Speaker from International Alert (IA). The forum was attended virtually by students, faculty members and staff from different schools in Sibugay, Basilan, Jolo and Tawi tawi. (Asst Prof. Ludivina B Dekit and Engr Marlon C Grande)
