Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) has two new vice-presidents.
WMSU President Dr. Eldigario Gonzales recently signed the appointment of Dr. Milabel Ho as Vice- President for Distance Education and International Relations (VP-DE&IR) and Dr. Felicitas Falcatan as Vice-President for External Studies (VP-ES). The DE&IR office is also newly created department.
Asde from the two, WMSU has four other vice-presidential offices, namely, academic affairs and open university sytem headed by Dr. Marlene Ortega; administration and finance headed by Prof. Ricardo Adjawie; research, extension and development headed by Dr. Grace Rebollos; and corporate affairs headed by Myrna Cabato.
The DE&IR will establish and manage a multi-media, interactive and web-based system of special instructions for off-campus and in-campus students including the university faculty. It will also handle human and public relations functions, including alumni-related activities and projects and educational partnerships with agencies and institutions worldwide, among others.
The external studies department oversees academic and other activities and programs for its 15 special satellite campuses located in the three provinces of Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga del Norte and Zamboanga Sibugay. These autonomous units especially are assigned by WMSU in terms of curriculum development, faculty training, research and special projects. (Rey-Luis Banagudos/PAO-WMSU)
