WMSU welcomes new commissioner at BOR helm

The Western Mindanao State University welcomed Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Commissioner Aldrin Arenas Darilag, RN, RMT, CHRP, Ph.D. as the new chairperson-designate of the WMSU Board of Regents (BOR). He assumed the chairmanship after the retirement of Comm. Perfecto Alibin. A simple yet fitting ceremony was held to officially welcome Comm. Darilag last March 21, 2022 at the Dr. Juanito Bruno Gymnasium in time with his first BOR meeting with WMSU on the same day. In his message, Darilag expressed his enthusiasm to be working with WMSU, and committed to help and further enrich the University. Comm. Darilag was reappointed by Pres. Rodrigo R. Duterte for another term until July 2024. Hon. Aldrin Arenas Darilag is CHED’s Oversight Commissioner for Teacher Education and Teacher Quality, Gender and Development, Extension Programs for State Universities and Colleges, and the Southeast Asian Regional Centre for Tropical Biology (SEAMEO Biotrop). He is also a Champion for Future Thinking and Cultural Education. Included in his notable achievements in the time of Covid-19 pandemic are spearheading the Eastern Visayas Higher Education Institutions – Flexible Learning Management Systems Consortium in Region VIII, leading the Working on Resilience and Innovation for Teaching Excellence in Region XI, and organizing a region-wide flexible learning initiatives and consortium programs of the 170 higher education institutions of Region V in partnership with the Bicol Foundation for Higher Education. Commissioner Darilag finished his Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Leadership and Management at the De La Salle University – Manila and has a Master’s Degree in Medical Technology at the University of Santo Tomas (UST). He is a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP), a Registered Medical Technologist (RMT) and a Registered Nurse (RN). (LMP, WMSU-PAO)
