WMSU Scholars Participate in DOST-SEI’s VisMin Leadership Camp

The Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) recently held a five-day leadership camp for the Visayas-Mindanao (VisMin) cluster at Savoy Hotel, Boracay, from October 22 to 26, 2024. The event aimed to inspire and instill patriotism in future leaders.

Despite challenging weather conditions, the camp was a success, covering topics such as the core values of a DOST-SEI scholar, communication and leadership skills, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Engaging activities were incorporated to enhance the learning experience.

Several distinguished DOST officials and guests graced the event. Dr. Peter Ernie Paris, Project Director of WVSU-CBPSME, delivered the welcome remarks, while Dr. Jayeel S. Cornelio, Director IV of DOST-SEI, concluded the event. Other notable speakers included Engr. Bernie C. Cangrejo, Ms. Rosejelynn Bulante, Dr. Michael Charleston B. Chua, Dr. Josette T. Biyo, Dr. Segundo Joaquin E. Romero Jr., Dr. Monera Salic-Hairulla, and Mr. Robby L. Reyes.

WMSU’s CBPSME scholars—Ms. Fatima Khadija O. Abdul, Ms. Fatima Amira D. Abdurajak, Mrs. Marifel O. Arcillas, Ms. Arcel Tan C. Sanchez, and Ms. Jayniefer S. Tubo, along with their project director, Dr. Mohammad Nur S. Paspasan, and project staff, Ms. Ryanna B. Damsalin, actively participated in the camp. Their dedication and enthusiasm exemplify the commitment of DOST-SEI scholars to lead with integrity and contribute to national development.
