The 11th Regional Congress and Skills Competition of the Council of Tourism and Hospitality Educators of Zamboanga Peninsula (CTHEZP) concluded with resounding success on November 15, 2024, after three days of intense competition and camaraderie among various academic institutions. The event brought together the best and brightest students from the region, showcasing their skills and creativity in the fields of tourism and hospitality.
The Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology (ZSCMST) emerged as the overall champion of the competition, impressing the judges with their exceptional talent and skill across a wide range of events. Jose Rizal Memorial State University (JRMSU) secured a commendable 1st place finish, while JH Cerilles State College claimed 2nd place, demonstrating their proficiency and dedication.
The annual competition featured a series of events designed to highlight the participants’ expertise in tourism and hospitality practices. Students competed in various categories, including Table Skirting, Floral Arrangement, Table Setting, Food and Beverage (FA) Showmanship, Tour Guiding, Market Basket, Cake Decorating, Fruits and Vegetables Carving, Napkin Folding, Bed Making, Bartending, and Synchronized Flairing. Academic excellence was also tested in the Quiz Bowl, and creativity was celebrated in the highly anticipated Mr. & Ms. CTHEZP Pageant.
As the curtains close on this year’s event, participating schools and students are already looking forward to next year’s congress, which promises even more exciting competitions and opportunities for professional growth.
