Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) continues to take significant steps toward digital transformation through its SMART Campus initiative. A productive consultation meeting was recently held with Mr. JC Husmillo, Managed and Cloud Services Unit Manager at Questronix, to explore innovative solutions that will enhance the universityโ€™s technological infrastructure and cybersecurity framework.

Dr. Ma. Carla A. Ochotorena, WMSU President emphasized the critical role of digital transformation in improving institutional efficiency, data security, and academic excellence. She highlighted WMSUโ€™s commitment to adopting smart technologies that streamline operations, enhance data management, and fortify cybersecurity measures. Moreover, she underscored the importance of a collaborative approach to ensure that faculty, students, and administrative units are well-equipped to embrace digital innovations.

Key discussions revolved around cloud computing, cybersecurity, and digital infrastructureโ€”essential elements in building a resilient, data-driven, and future-ready campus. Mr. Husmillo shared insights on leveraging cloud services, AI-driven automation, and robust security frameworks to optimize WMSUโ€™s operations, learning environments, and research capabilities. His expertise provided valuable perspectives on how emerging technologies can support WMSUโ€™s digital transformation journey.

The consultation marked a significant step in refining WMSUโ€™s SMART Campus strategies. Moving forward, the university remains committed to implementing advanced solutions that will enhance its digital ecosystem, ensuring a secure, efficient, and technologically empowered learning environment.

The meeting was also attended by the Data Protection Office Director and concurrent OIC Dean of the College of Computing Studies, Dr. Mark L. Flores; MISTO Assistant Director and SMART Campus TWG Member, Assoc. Prof. Salimar B. Tahil; and the Questronix Cybersecurity Team, represented by Mr. Leirrand Christian A. Ochotorena and Mr. Whesley Timpanco. Their collective expertise provided a comprehensive discussion on digital advancements tailored for the universityโ€™s needs.
