Double Celebration at WMSU IPIL Campus: Groundbreaking Ceremony and 25th Anniversary

On April 2, 2025, the Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) Ipil Campus commemorated two major events. The campus hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for a new academic building and celebrated its 25th anniversary.

Groundbreaking Ceremony

The groundbreaking ceremony for the new academic building was attended by key figures, including Atty. Marlo C. Bangcoro, a member of the 1st District of Zamboanga Sibugay, who generously donated the land for the project. Engineer Al-Fahadz Asaral from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region IX was also present, along with WMSU officials, faculty members, and students. This new building will enhance the educational facilities available to students, reflecting WMSU’s commitment to providing quality education.

25th Anniversary Celebration

The 25th-anniversary program was themed “Rooted in Service, Growing in Excellence,” highlighting the campus’ dedication to serving the community and striving for excellence. WMSU President Dr. Ma. Carla A. Ochotorena was the guest speaker, emphasizing the importance of the campus’s role in the region. A plaque of recognition was awarded to the founders of the Ipil Campus, acknowledging their contributions to establishing and nurturing the institution over the years.

This dual celebration not only marked a new chapter in the campus’s development but also honored its history and the people who have made it possible. The event highlighted the collaborative spirit among the university, local government, and community, laying the groundwork for future growth and success.
