The ILS High School General Parents and Teachers Community Association (GPTCA) successfully convened its annual General Assembly on October 4, 2025, at the ILS Covered Court. The event not only served as a platform to celebrate the past year’s achievements but also featured the election and induction of a new slate of executive officers for the upcoming academic year.
The assembly was formally opened with Welcome Remarks from outgoing Vice President, Prof. Amyra S. Mohammad, who would later be elected as the new President. High School Principal Dr. Riah R. Barcelona followed, introducing the present University officials and High School faculty.
Providing institutional context, Dr. Shamir R. Kassim, Executive Assistant for Special Academic Concerns, delivered the Inspirational Message on behalf of University President Dr. Ma. Carla A. Ochotorena. Dr. Kassim underscored the crucial importance of the partnership between the school and home in fostering student academic success.
Outgoing GPTCA President Dr. Victor A. Liozo, Jr. presented a comprehensive report detailing the associationโs impactful programs. Subsequently, outgoing Treasurer Prof. Merlina E. Elizalde delivered a detailed financial report, assuring attendees of the associationโs continued sound fiscal management. The reports, notably the President’s and Treasurer’s, were professionally displayed on a Mobile LED wall, generously provided by Honorable Mayor Khymer Olaso.
The highly anticipated election and induction of the new executive officers for School Year 2025-2026 was officiated by Atty. Roberto Rivero III. The newly-elected GPTCA Executive Officers, poised to continue the GPTCA’s strong tradition of service and support to the ILS community, are:

Beyond the official proceedings, the assembly featured engaging intermission numbers, including solo song performances by two high school students from the 7-Dagalea class and one by incoming Secretary Prof. Olga T. Victorio.
Adding excitement, the GPTCA organized a raffle drawing with door prizes secured through the generosity of local government officials, an effort spearheaded by Dr. Victor A. Liozo, Jr. Mayor Olaso sponsored rice, while Congressman Jerry Perez donated cash prizes, and Congresswoman Kat Chua provided pitchers and three solar electric fans.
The assembly concluded with Closing Remarks from Academic Coordinator Asst. Prof. Nancy O. Samson. She extended profound gratitude to parents for their unwavering support in monitoring students’ academic requirements and expressed heartfelt appreciation for the dedication and passion of the school’s teachers. The General Assembly concluded on a high note, with parents and teachers leaving with tokens, prizes, and a renewed commitment to supporting the schoolโs programs and initiatives in the year ahead.
