Western Mindanao State University’s Crimson Men & Music captivated delegates and guests at the Higher Education Summit 2026, held on March 11, 2026 at the SMX Convention Center Clark.

The group was invited by Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis, Chairperson of the Commission on Higher Education, and delivered a memorable musical performance that showcased the artistic talents of WMSU faculty and administrators. Their performance delighted summit participants and highlighted the vibrant culture of excellence within the university community.

The ensemble is composed of distinguished WMSU officials and faculty members:

• Mr. Eric Alfaro, University Registrar

• Dr. Arnel Madrazo, Chair, College of Teacher Education Graduate School; Unit Head, Dissemination, Publication, Citation, and Monitoring Unit

• Dr. Mark Flores, OIC-Dean, College of Computing Studies and concurrent Data Privacy Officer

• Dr. Kent Adnil Lao, Associate Dean, College of Teacher Education

• Dr. Ryan Biong, History Department Chair, College of Liberal Arts

• Assoc. Prof. Joselito R. Custodio, Director, Center for Continuing Education

Following the performance, Dr. Agrupis praised the group and emphasized that talents in Philippine higher education institutions are not limited to students but are also found among faculty and university leaders. She noted that WMSU demonstrated this through professionals who are both accomplished administrators and talented performers whose voices uplifted the audience.

For her part, University President Dr. Ma. Carla A. Ochotorena expressed pride in the group’s achievement and congratulated the six members of the ensemble for bringing honor to the university through their exceptional musical performance. She also shared that WMSU looks forward to more engagements with CHED in the future.

The performance of Crimson Men & Music stands as another testament that WMSU professionals excel not only in leadership, scholarship, and public service but also in the performing arts.
