Western Mindanao State University (WMSU), in partnership with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Region IX, successfully conducted the Philippine National Public Key Infrastructure (PNPKI) Digital Signature Orientation and User Training on July 29, 2026, at the College of Teacher Education (CTE) Social Hall.

The activity gathered university officials, faculty members, and administrative personnel to strengthen their knowledge and technical skills in PNPKI implementation, enabling the secure and legally binding use of digital signatures in government transactions.

Delivering the inspirational message on behalf of University President Dr. Ma. Carla A. Ochotorena, Dr. Fredelino M. San Juan, Vice President for Student Affairs and Services, underscored that digital transformation is essential in modern public service. He highlighted that PNPKI strengthens the authenticity and integrity of electronic documents, streamlines administrative processes, and supports a more efficient, paperless, and technology-driven work environment.

The orientation introduced participants to the significance, legal basis, and practical applications of PNPKI, followed by a registration walkthrough and face-to-face identity verification. Participants also took part in hands-on training on digital certificate installation, configuration, and the use of Foxit PDF Reader for digitally signing documents. The activity concluded with an open forum, troubleshooting session, and evaluation.

The successful conduct of the training reflects WMSU’s continued commitment to advancing digital governance, strengthening information security, and equipping its workforce with the competencies needed to deliver efficient, transparent, and future-ready public service. (MKMQuin)
