GOALS

  1. provide opportunities for students to become science-oriented professionals equipped with advanced scientific knowledge, skills, and desirable moral and scientific values enabling them to take leadership roles in meeting the needs of industries and worked market demands
  2. conduct relevant and innovative researches in pure and applied sciences that shall contribute to new knowledge and obtain products for science and technology advancement with regional and national significance and with international recognition
  3. provide avenue for the utilization of research findings, products, and technology to impact on the community towards the enhancement of the environment and quality of life

BS Biology Program Outcomes

  1. Produce professional who can be employed in government/institutions and other agencies where scientist with biological expertise are needed.
  2. Can engage in entrepreneurial activities
  3. Conduct research in various areas in Biology.
  4. Equip graduates for medical and allied medical education and for advance studies in Biology.
  5. Pursue a career in teaching.

BS Chemistry Program Outcomes

Graduates of BS Chemistry are expected to demonstrate the following competencies: 

  1. Demonstrate a broad and coherent knowledge and understanding in the core areas of chemistry: inorganic, organic, physical, biological and analytical chemistry; and in addition the necessary background in mathematics and physics 
  2. Gather data using standard laboratory equipment, modern instrumentation and classical techniques 
  3. Identify and solve problems involving chemistry, using current disciplinary and interdisciplinary principles 
  4. Qualify for further study and/or for entry-level professional employment in the general workplace 
  5. Work effectively and independently in multi-disciplinary and multi- cultural teams 
  6. Act in recognition of professional, social, and ethical responsibility 
  7. Effectively communicate orally and in writing using both English and Filipino 
  8. Articulate and discuss the latest developments in the specific field of practice 
  9. Interpret relevant scientific data and make judgments that include reflection on relevant scientific and ethical issues 
  10. Preserve and promote โ€œFilipino historical and cultural heritageโ€

BS Mathematics Program Outcomes

  1. To provide the student with a curriculum that represents the breadth and depth of mathematics, from classical to contemporary, theoretical to applied. The curriculum shall enhance the studentโ€™s mathematical and critical thinking skills, and develop in the students a greater appreciation and understanding of the importance of mathematics in history and in the modern world.
  2. To prepare the student for advanced studies in mathematics, applied mathematics and related fields.
  3. To prepare the student who plans to pursue a career in the academe.
  4. To prepare the student for jobs or research work that requires analytical-thinking skills.

BS Physics Program Outcomes

Common to all baccalaureate programs in all types of institutions

The graduates have the ability to

  1. Articulate the latest developments in their specific field of practice
  2. Effectively communicate orally and in writing using both English and Filipino languages.
  3. Work effectively and independently in multi-disciplinary and multicultural levels.
  4. Demonstrate professional, social, and ethical responsibility, especially in practicing intellectual property rights and sustainable development
  5. Preserve and promote โ€œFilipino historical and cultural heritage.โ€

Common to the Science and Mathematics Discipline

  1. Demonstrate broad and coherent knowledge and understanding in the core areas of physical and natural sciences.
  2. Apply critical and problem-solving skills using the scientific method.
  3. Interpret relevant scientific data and make judgements that include reflection on relevant scientific and ethical issues.
  4. Carry out basic mathematical and statistical computations and use appropriate technologies in (a) the analysis of data; (b) in pattern recognition, generalization, abstraction, critical analysis and problem solving.
  5. Communicate information, ideas, problems and solutions, both, orally and in writing, to other scientists, decision makers and the public.
  6. Relate science and mathematics to other disciplines.
  7. Design and perform safe and responsible techniques and procedures in laboratory and field practices.
  8. Critically evaluate input form others.
  9. Appreciate the limitations and implications of science in everyday life. 
  10. Commit to the integrity of data.

Specific to the BS Physics Program

  1. Grasp basic knowledge of mathematics, classical mechanics, electrodynamics, quantum mechanics and statistical mechanics (physics related cognitive abilities and competencies.
  2. Apply scientific reasoning, mathematical, computational and experimental methods in solving physics problems (practical skills).
  3. Design solutions responsive to community needs.
  4. Recognize recent developments in Physics and
  5. Act as effective transmitters of Physics.

BS Statistics Program Outcomes

The graduates of BS Statistics program should be able to:

  1. demonstrate broad and coherent knowledge and understanding in the core areas of statistics, computing, and mathematics;
  2. translate real-life problems into statistical problems
  3. generate information involving the conceptualization of a strategy for generating timely and accurate/reliable data, organizing a process for putting together or compiling the needed data, and transforming available data into relevant and useful forms; and
  4. identify appropriate statistical tests and methods and use this properly for the given problems, select optimal solutions to problems, and make decisions in the face of uncertainty.
