Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) reaffirms its commitment to the welfare of its personnel by formally entering into a partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Medicare Plus Inc. for the implementation of the Php 7,000 healthcare coverage per government employee provided by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM). The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing took place on July 15, 2025, at the Office of the President Conference Room, attended by WMSUβs Vice Presidents, key university officials, and representatives of the Administrative Personnel Association.
University President Dr. Ma. Carla A. Ochotorena, a steadfast advocate for health and well-being, emphasized that employees should fully avail themselves of the healthcare coverage and prioritize their health. She reminded everyone that while work is important, it should never come at the expense of oneβs physical and mental well-being. Dr. Ochotorena reiterated the University’s commitment to supporting its personnel not only in their professional growth but also in ensuring their overall wellness.
Executive Director Philip Fortuno of Medicare Plus Inc. expressed his gratitude and hope for a strong and productive partnership with the University. He assured WMSU of the healthcare providerβs commitment to delivering quality healthcare services to its employees. The Php 7,000 healthcare coverage includes a maximum benefit limit of Php 40,000, specifically for accommodations in a semi-private room. Executive Director Fortuno also conveyed his enthusiasm in serving each member of the WMSU workforce and supporting their health and well-being.
