Cultural Icons Exhibit Opens in WMSU

In a ribbon-cutting ceremony, the Sagisag Kultura (Cultural Icons) Exhibit was formally launched at the Executive Building lobby of the Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) last May 14.

National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), in partnership with the said university opened the display of cultural icons for public viewing. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was headed by the university president - Dr. Milabel Enriquez-Ho, Dr. Mario I. Miclat, head of the NCCA's National Committee on Language and Translation and Dean of the University of the Philippines' Asian Center, Dr. Virgilio S. Almario, National Artist for Literature and City Councilor Rodolfo R. Lim.

Serve Your Country Says Deputy Speaker Tañada

Hon. Lorenzo "Erin" Reyes Tañada III, Representative of the 4th District of Quezon and as well as the Deputy Speaker of the Prosecution Team of the much followed Impeachment Trial of Chief Justice Renato Corona, keynoted this year's Western Mindanao State University - College of Nursing Commencement Exercises. The ceremony was conducted at the university's Dr. Juanito Bruno Gymnasium last April 20.

With 581 graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program and 1 graduate from the Masters in Nursing program, Rep. Tañada spoke to the nurse hopefuls. He began his speech by sharing a light jest by comparing the on-going Impeachment Trial to a box office hit soap opera that is closely followed by Filipinos every day.

Langsdorf Proud of WMSU-JEEP Finishers

478 students received their certificate of completion of the Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) Job Enabling English Proficiency (JEEP) program at the Grand Astoria Plaza last April 8.

This year's JEEP finishers belong to the second batch of students who have accomplished the JEEP project. As a requisite for completion of the short course, the students complied with the JEEP-Start which focuses on the student's proficiency in general English and JEEP-Accelerate which concentrates on specialized English skills required by employers.
