The College of Home Economics (CHE)-Hospitality Management Department (HM Dept) once again seized the championship during the 9th Regional’s Skills Competition organized by the Council of Tourism and Hospitality Educators of Zamboanga Peninsula (CTHEZP) held November 21-22, 2019 at Dipolog City, Zamboanga Del Norte.
After two years of not being able to participate, the HM Department bagged its fourth championship after defeating other participating higher education institutions (HEIs) in the 9th regional competition hosted by the Dipolog Medical Center College Foundation Incorporated (DMC-CFI).
With the theme “Sustainable Agri-Tourism in the Industrial Revolution in the 21st Century”, the congress aimed to encourage participants to patronize local produce to help the farmers and to explore other agricultural products such as crops in substitute of rice.
In addition, the regional congress also aimed to unite HEIs for collaboration and updates on its curricular offerings, and to be abreast with the challenges and issues concerning amongst them. The highlight of this congress is the skills competition where students from different HEIs participate in various events such as quiz bowl, floral arrangement, bartending and culinary market basket to name a few.
The team was led by the College Dean, Dr. Lucia M. Santos as the Head of Delegation, Associate Dean, Ms. Marrielle S. Veloso, HM Department Head, Ms. Mariter A.
