Three nursing students from the Western Mindanao State University knocked off the other eight competing schools all over Zamboanga Peninsula in a regional inter-nursing school quiz bowl dubbed as 1st West Metro Regional Inter Nursing Battle of the Nightingales held February 23, 2017 at KCC Mall de Zamboanga.
“The said competition is focused on Nursing theories and concepts-including drug computation,” said winning team coach Prof. Divine Grace M. Marumas. According to her, the team is the crème of the crop of the college as they have consistently shown excellence in their respective year levels.
Beating the other participants from Ateneo de Zamboanga, Brent Hospital and College Incorporated, Hardam Furigay Colleges Foundation Incorporated (Lamitan), Jose Rizal Memorial State University (Dapitan), Notre Dame of Jolo College, Pilar College of Zamboanga City, Sulu State College and Universidad de Zamboanga were Ms Jehana Mar E. Abdurahman (Level IV student), Ms Jackie Lou Irish D. Ventura (Level III student), and Ms Aiisha N. Maldisa (Level II student).
Showing their utmost support to the WMSU representatives were the University President, Dr. Milabel Enriquez-Ho, College of Nursing Dean, Dr. Nursia Mani-Barjose, Crimson team coach, Prof. Divine Grace M. Marumas, members of the College of Nursing Faculty, CN Student Council and students of the college.
Champion team of the 1st West Metro Regional Inter Nursing Battle of the Nightingales was awarded with a trophy, Certificate of Recognition, and a cash prize worth P20, 000.00.
