Western Mindanao State University’s Palaro, an annual week-long celebration of culture and sports kicked off on Saturday, September 6 with the Search for Mr. and Ms. WMSU 2014.
College of Nursing’s Helen C. Montallana, a senior Nursing student was crowned as this year’s Ms. WMSU while John Michael O. Mecua of the College of Physical Education, Recreation and Sports was chosen as Mr. WMSU 2014.
The WMSU Gym witnessed the exposition of beauty, talent and wit of the candidates from ten colleges vying for the coveted title and to represent WMSU in the upcoming Search for Mr. and Ms. MASCUF 2014.
Runners-up for this year’s search are as follows: Edil-Joshua P. Ganas (BS Nursing IV) and Gracielle Pilar T. Yap-Aizon (BS Broadcasting III) as the first-runners up; Mohammad Ysa A. Lim (BS Broadcasting III) and Malisa N. Asrakal (BS Elementary Education IV) as the second runners-up; Christopher A. Dela Peña (BS Criminology II) and Mary Catherine E. Mumbing (BS Nutrition and Dietetics III) as the 3rd runners-up and Joshua O. Joson (BS Biology II) and Janelyn A. Curambao (BPE IV) as the 4th runners-up.
The Office of the Culture, Theater and the Arts through its Director, Prof. Alita T. Pangilinan spearheaded the conduct of the pageant with support from the President, Dr. Milabel Enriquez-Ho and a working committee composed of WMSU officials, faculty and staff.
