Western Mindanao State University’s Team Null emerged victorious in this year’s regional Hack4Gov 3 Competition held in Zamboanga City. The team, composed of BS Computer Science students Landrei Zerna, Ray Vincent Concepcion, Jethro Ezekiel Natividad, John Kyle T. Alas-As, and guided by their mentor Salimar Tahil, outperformed 12 other teams to secure the top position in the capture-the-flag competition. With this win, they have earned the honor of representing the region in the national Hack4Gov 3 competition set for October.

The Hack4Gov tournament, organized by the DICT Cybersecurity – Philippine National Computer Emergency Response Team (NCERT), is a prestigious capture-the-flag (CTF) competition. It aims to elevate students’ awareness of the critical importance of cybersecurity while providing hands-on experience in identifying and mitigating cyber threats. This platform also facilitates the exchange of best practices in cyber defense, collaboration and innovation among participants.

With this triumph, Team Null not only brings pride to Western Mindanao State University but also strengthens the region’s standing in the national cybersecurity arena.
